Is LaterLarry POPIA-compliant?
Yes — POPIA compliance is core to the platform, not a bolt-on. All guest PII is encrypted per-field, the database is private to verified hotels, reports auto-expire after 3 years, and every guest has a legal right of reply via a secure appeal portal. We only process guest data for the specific legitimate purpose of risk prevention.
What stops a hotel from filing a false report?
Every report is reviewed by a LaterLarry moderator before it goes live and must be backed by evidence (photos, booking references, police case numbers where relevant). False reporting is grounds for immediate account termination and — where applicable — legal action. Reported guests can appeal, and if the report is unfounded, it is removed.
Can guests find out they have been reported?
Yes. Whenever a report is filed against a guest with contactable details, LaterLarry sends them a POPIA §18 notification with a private appeal link. They can see the report against them and submit a rebuttal. Their identity is never made public.
How long is a report visible?
Reports auto-expire after 3 years and are then redacted (free-text description scrubbed, booking references removed). Guests can request earlier removal via the appeal portal.
Do you integrate with our PMS?
Pro tier includes API access. We are building integrations with common South African and international PMS providers — get in touch and we will prioritise yours.
Is my data safe if LaterLarry gets breached?
Guest PII is encrypted at the field level with keys managed outside the database. Even a full database dump would not yield readable ID numbers, contact details, or booking references. All logins are protected by TOTP two-factor authentication and rate-limited.
